This Privacy Policy explains how TortoLingua collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use our website and app.

1. Data We Collect

  • Account information, such as email address and authentication provider identifiers.
  • Learning data, such as your selected languages, vocabulary progress, and session-level performance signals.
  • Technical and security data, such as IP address, browser details, and operational logs.
  • Community-form data, such as contribution route, language, email, optional name or Discord handle, experience, availability, and the report or idea you choose to submit.

2. How We Use Data

  • Deliver and improve language learning features.
  • Personalize repetition and progress feedback.
  • Protect the service from abuse and security threats.
  • Maintain reliability, debugging, and operational monitoring.
  • Evaluate, respond to, and coordinate voluntary community contributions with your consent.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with trusted infrastructure and analytics providers strictly to operate the service, under confidentiality and security obligations.

The structured community form is provided by Tally BV and hosted in the European Union. Tally processes form submissions for TortoLingua under its privacy and security terms. We do not sync community submissions to a CRM or advertising audience at launch.

4. Retention and Deletion

  • Long-term raw reading texts and raw click-stream are not kept.
  • If you remove a target language, related progress may be archived and then permanently deleted after a limited retention period.
  • If you delete your account, we execute full account-level deletion of user-owned data.
  • Community submissions are reviewed at least quarterly. We delete stale submissions and exports when they are no longer needed to evaluate, respond to, or coordinate the contribution.

5. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data, including secure transport and access controls.

6. Your Choices

  • You can review and update profile information in the app.
  • You can remove target languages from your account.
  • You can request full account deletion from your account area.
  • You can withdraw from future community contact or request deletion of a community submission by emailing community@tortolingua.com.

Community click analytics contains only an allow-listed route label such as reviewer or beta. It does not include form answers, names, email addresses, or Discord handles.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the latest version on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
