What a volunteer review may include

You might review one screen, one paragraph, a short set of examples, or a feature flow. Useful feedback can cover:

• whether the meaning is correct and complete;
• whether the wording sounds natural for the intended audience;
• spelling, punctuation, grammar, register, and regional usage;
• whether a learning example teaches what it claims to teach;
• whether a button, error, or explanation is clear in context.

Community feedback helps us find problems; it does not automatically make an entire language “native-reviewed.” TortoLingua will only make a public review claim when the actual scope and reviewer evidence support it.

A lightweight process

1. Choose a contribution route and tell us which language or platform you know.
2. If there is a fit, we may send a small, clearly bounded task or ask one follow-up question.
3. Return comments in the format that is easiest for you.
4. We decide whether and how to use the feedback and may edit it for product consistency.
5. You can decline a task or stop participating at any time.

We cannot promise a task, a response time, publication, or public credit. Optional credit is shown only with separate permission.

Volunteer contribution terms

Participation is voluntary, unpaid, non-exclusive, and does not create employment, contractor status, minimum workload, or a deadline. You keep ownership of original material you submit. By submitting a proposed correction, translation, example, or other contribution, you grant TortoLingua a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, adapt, translate, publish, and distribute it in the product and related materials.

Submit only material you have the right to share. Do not copy textbook passages, paid course material, private conversations, employer content, test questions, or other protected material. TortoLingua may accept, reject, combine, or edit a contribution. You may ask us to stop showing optional attribution on future displays, but that does not revoke uses already made under the licence.

Privacy and retention

The community form may collect your contribution route, language, email, optional name or Discord handle, relevant experience, availability, and the details needed to understand your report or idea. It does not ask for a phone number, street address, exact birth date, identity document, demographic profile, or file upload at launch.

Tally hosts the structured form in the EU. We use the submission only to evaluate, respond to, and coordinate community contributions. We review stored submissions at least quarterly and delete stale records that are no longer needed. Analytics receives only a controlled route label such as reviewer or beta, never your form answers, name, email, or Discord handle.

You must be at least 18 to submit the form. You can withdraw from future contact or request deletion through community@tortolingua.com.

Questions

Is this paid work?

No. This community programme is voluntary and unpaid. If TortoLingua ever offers a separate paid engagement, it will use a separate written agreement.

How much time do I need?

There is no minimum. A precise report about one word can be useful. Review requests, when available, should be small and clearly scoped.

Do I need to be a professional translator?

No. Native or highly proficient speakers, teachers, translators, careful learners, and people with strong regional knowledge can notice different problems. Tell us honestly about your relationship to the language so we can interpret the feedback correctly.

Can I report one mistake without joining?

Yes. Choose “Report a language issue” and send only the context needed to find and understand it.

Will my name appear publicly?

Not by default. Public credit is optional and requires separate permission.
